h yehhh...one of the deadliest releases on Prince Jazzbo's Ujama label makes its way to 333's valuable reissue programme, a special digital dedication to all veteran deejay by prominent dancehall star Early B, riding Prince Jazzbo’s ‘Replay’ riddim, hard, on a very necessary first vinyl reissue.

We’re in holy grail territory with ‘Imitator’, pairing a legendary voice and rhythm exemplary of foundational digidub, and hailing the emergence of a influential new era in Jamaican reggae and dance music at large. The pitch bent bell tones and swingeing bass of Prince Jazzbo’s ‘Replay Version’, which was reissued by Mark Ainley & Mark Ernestus’ Basic Replay label, and lent it its title, underlines Early B’s effortlessly mellifluous but rugged flow in a sterling cut that still swills any good dance, proper, and would set the tone for time to come.

Its ‘Imitator Version’ is  hauntingly spangled with FX and running out to that mad coda - so nice you have to play it twice.
